What is Participatory Culture?
Whilst researching this topic, I found it hard to find a clear definition. I gathered information and came up with this definition:

The public do not act as consumers but also as contributors or producers. With its easy accessability, there is a strong support for creating a sharing peoples creations. Members are to believe their contributions matter alongside a social connection to other users, caring about what they have contributed.

Forms of participatory culture include:

  • Affiliations
  • Expressions
  • Collaborative Problem-Solving
  • Circulations

Another example of a participatory culture is YouTube. Users can upload their own content, video blog (VLOG) their lives sharing it with everyone around the world. Where the public can consume these videos, they are also able to contribute to them.
